Putting the client first
WHEN CLIENTS’ INTERESTS BECAME THE PRIMARY FOCUS
Alex Arnbäck was an experienced, highly regarded private banker at the start of the millennium. His career was flying high but something didn’t feel quite right. The way he had to work, where his clients’ interests were secondary and the advisor’s earnings primary, was in direct conflict with his own values, and he felt that he needed to do things differently.
After Alex met Trevor Pavitt, a private banker with similar thoughts, they were convinced that with an open, transparent model with no hidden fees and commission, focusing on independent advice based on the client’s interests, they would provide a credible alternative to the old private banking model.
So they left their major banks and founded Lyra in Geneva in 2006. In the following decade, Lyra developed into a well-known firm of advisors for clients both in Switzerland and worldwide.
After Sara Clason joined the team in Geneva, the company began looking to Sweden as well, and the chance to challenge the old private banking model again. The Stockholm branch of Lyra was founded in 2016 and has grown bigger since then.
Our goal is to set the standard for how advice is provided. We put our clients first and give them totally independent advice to help them gain financial freedom.

LYRA IS FOUNDED
Lyra is founded in Geneva. The founders, Alex and Trevor, have a mission to change the standard of financial advice.
THE BOOK HEAL YOUR INVESTMENTS: A STORY YOUR BANKER WILL NEVER TELL YOU IS PUBLISHED
The book is published in French and Swedish, but another five languages are subsequently added. It is recommended and well reviewed by both Burton Malkiel and Professor Klas Schwab, and wins second prize at Family Business Network’s Next Gen Award in Singapore.
NEW CEO
Sara Clason, with experience from NASDAQ in Dubai and RBS Coutts Bank Ltd., is recruited and will subsequently be CEO of Lyra in Sweden.
LYRA IS A CO-FOUNDER OF GAIA
The Global Association of Independent Advisors (GAIA) is founded in California. The initiative is backed by a number of firms promoting higher standards and a more transparent working model among financial advisors.
AUTHORISATION IN SWEDEN – AND OUR FIRST SWEDISH CLIENT
The Stockholm office is set up at Biblioteksgatan 25 with just two employees. Today we have fifteen.
A NEW TALENT JOINS LYRA
Ulrika Öström joins the team from her job as Financial Advisor at Bandling & Partners. Ulrika becomes a partner at Lyra two years later.
LYRA IS CERTIFIED BY CEFEX
After having performed a thorough audit of our operations, the independent organisation CEFEX certifies us.
A HIGH LEVEL OF TRUST – DESPITE THE CRISIS
The Covid-19 pandemic paralyses the world and creates anxiety on the exchanges. However, thanks to our approach, our clients continue to feel satisfied and secure.
